HARVESTING THE MOON

Last night wasn't an easy night to photograph the rising moon as it seemed to play hide and seek through a sparsely spread array of myriad shaped clouds. Finally after a long wait the moon made its grand appearance, albeit for a short while, rewarded with the onset of an eclipse. However the latter half of the eclipse was a total disappointment.

Historic Amherstburg

Historic Amherstburg & Surrounding Areas - Ontario - Canada

Amherstburg is a historic Canadian town near the mouth of the Detroit River in Essex County, Ontario. It is approximately 27 kilometres south of the Canadian city of Windsor and the U.S. city of Detroit, Michigan. The town was permanently established as a British military fort in 1796. Fort Malden was occupied as a garrison. Many of the houses are built in the French style of a century ago giving the town a very old fashioned appearance. Amherstburg is home to several tourist attractions, including Fort Malden, Ontario's heritage. Visitors can witness the thrill of a live musket demonstration or a cannon firing, savoury cookhouse demonstrations and hands-on activities for children. The 'Art by the River' Arts and Craft Festival, which was was first held in 1967, is Essex County's original Arts & Crafts Show held at Fort Malden National Historic Site of Canada. It has grown into an end of summer tradition in Amherstburg, attracting 150 artists and artisans from across Ontario. Edna's Pickles was a proud participant as of the artisans for the 2nd consecutive year.
