Waxing Crescent Moon

Moonwhile, in Mississauga this evening, a waxing crescent Moon is the first lunar phase after the New Moon. From the northern hemisphere, this Moon phase appears as a small sliver on the right side. This phase appears opposite in the southern hemisphere, where a waxing crescent appears on the left side of the Moon. Photos by Tony Fernandes.

Eclipsed Harvest Full Moon

Full-moonwhile, in Mississauga, it was a partially-eclipsed Harvest Moon. Nevertheless, the September full moon is known as the harvest full moon because it is usually the moon that occurs closest to the autumnal equinox. It is also the time of year when the season comes to an end for summer crops to be harvested.

Meanwhile, in Mississauga this evening, having been surrounded by cloudy skies all around while on a short walk around the neighborhood, I couldn’t resist to rush home and click some pictures with the iPad. The plane and the moon were a bonus.
