Toronto Windmill (Exhibition Place Turbine), a 91-metre
windmill belonging to WindShare co-operative, erected on December 18, 2002, is
the first wind turbine installed in a major North American urban city
centre. The turbine production capacity helps displace up to 380 tonnes of
carbon dioxide annually, which is the equivalent of taking 1,300 cars off the
road or planting 30,000 trees each year.

ARI & FRANKIE MAKE MY DAY AT THE C.N.E.
The best thing that
happened to us this year at the C.N.E. is that our grandson Ari came to visit
and spend some time with us here at the Arts, Crafts & Hobbies Pavilion,
Booth # 612. Ari boosted our sales just by his charming smile alone.
The second best thing of the day was that I watched my childhood idol Frankie Avalon singing live many of his greatest hits including 'Venus' and 'Why' to a packed audience at the C.N.E. Bandshell. All in all a great day.

THE C.N.E. BANDSHELL - LOUIS ARMSTRONG WAS HERE IN 1962
The Bandshell with a modern canopy extension (ca 2007)
Inspired by the Hollywood Bowl, the Art Deco-styled
Bandshell on the CNE grounds was built in 1936 according to designs prepared by
the Toronto architectural firm of Craig and Madill.[8] It is situated on the
west side of the grounds, and over the years has been host to many famous acts,
including Guy Lombardo, Louis Armstrong, The Guess Who, and Joni Mitchell. More
recently the likes of Susan Aglukark, Moxy Früvous, and Bob Newhart have played
the open air venue.
The adjacent park is known as Bandshell Park. It also hosts
a carillon on its grounds.
On August 25, 2003, as part of the CNE's 125th anniversary
celebrations, and as part of Kid's Day, a Guinness World Record was set by the
Bandshell as Sesame Street's Elmo hosted the largest Hokey Pokey song and dance
routine.

EXCHANGING OF THE GUARDS - Canadian National Exhibition
'EXCHANGING OF THE GUARDS'
SIMPLY HILARIOUS
AND COMICAL ACT!
AMAZING, ENTERTAINING
& AMUSING PARODY
FOR THE YOUNG & OLD!
This year at the CNE, two internationally renowned show
creators perform daily at the C.N.E.
Don't miss the "Ex-Changing of the Guards' that takes place at the entrance to the 'The Farm' building, opposite the Queen Elizabeth Theatre near the Arts Crafts & Hobbies Bldg.
This interactive, original show from Unity Productions debuted in Epcot Center in 2001. This comedic gem has been entirely updated and enhanced, giving CNE audiences the first look at a show that surely is the talk of the fair.
Creative Director Serge Dulac, known worldwide for his unique brand of entertainment, will perform side-by-side with his son, Lucas Dulac. Legendary French actor and comic, Philippe Elno, who collaborated with Serge in creating this show in 2001, will lend his wit and unmatched comedic timing as the 3rd guard. Many surprises await you at this world premiere event. Don't forget your camera!
And just in case you are watching this royal parody of the 'changing of the guard' from a close distance, be prepared - there's every chance of you being surprised as being recruited instantaneously as the fourth guard!
