Grown by leaps and bounds

Football is not new to the United Arab Emirates. It is a football loving nation. It has various sports clubs and one of the first ones to establish was Al Nasr Club.

The Al Nasr grew up from very humble beginnings, starting in sandy area near the present Indian Sports Club. It was here that I was privileged to watch a friendly football match led by the unassuming and legendary football player Nascimento Pele who visited Dubai with his Brazilian Club Santos in 1973 and played against Al Nasr on a sandy ground.
