TIME FOR CHANGE : FROM CRAB MENTALITY TO VIRTUES

The behaviour of some people in this world who pull down others on their way to succeed in life is best defined as 'crab mentality' often with a phrase "If I can't have it, neither can you", analogous to the mentality of crabs in a bucket. It's TIME NOW FOR CHANGE : FROM CRAB MENTALITY TO VIRTUES.

St. Diogo's Church, Guirim/Sangolda

St. Diogo's Church - Guirim/Sangolda Parish
Bardez - Goa - India

Poignant memories of my childhood in Goa where I grew up and went to school at St. Anthony's High as a day-scholar, still linger. On Sunday mornings I walked to Church with my parents to attend Mass, where I sometimes served Mass in Latin as an altar boy. Later in the afternoon, I attended Catechism classes.

Years later I completed my college education in Bombay, and eventually I worked far away from home. Every year I went on a holiday to see my parents, and attended Mass in the same old  village church again re-living the memories of my childhood, albeit just briefly, the difference being my childhood friends had grown up into men too. We met outside the church after the Mass and spoke about the old times when we were all young. There was a brief pause as we momentarily reflected on our  younger times through moist eyes.

In my drawing of our parish church, on the far right is the cemetery. There lie the graves of my Mum and Dad.

Fishing Boat at Baga Beach Goa, India.

Back in the days of my childhood in the 1960’s, Baga, a beach town in state of Goa, India, was one of my favourite places that I visited. It lies 2 km north of Calangute, which is popular with tourists and locals alike with a coastline of pristine golden-brown sands and the meandering and scenic Baga Creek, summed up in the excerpt below from by book ‘GOA - Memories of my Homeland’ (Poems & Stories).

Grandma's annual dip
In the Arabian Seas
For her aging knees
She thought was good indeed;
She took me along on a trip
To a idyllic place called Baga
On the eight o'clock "Carreira"

Dotted along Goa’s scenic beaches, boats fitted with an outrigger was a common sight, but nowadays motorboats are used. Fisher folk live along the coastline and cast their nets on a regular basis. Many families combine their efforts in going out to sea and a whole community helps in pulling in the nets. A familiar sight at times is strolling tourists lending a helping hand. All this and much much more in my new illustrated line-art book with descriptions, namely ‘A Line in Time’. It can be ordered online through www.ednaspickles.com.

Daylight Wasted Time

No photo description available. No photo description available.

Daylight Wasted Time + Time wasted in changing the time on numerous clocks, watches and other gadgets around the house + upset body clock x various Provinces = Precious Mass Wasted Time. The time is up to do away with DST. Even the clocks and computers must be upset! Time moves on. It is not meant to be manipulated by moving it forward or backward. Don’t mess with time.
