CELEBRATING POPE FRANCIS

Celebrating Pope Francis.

On March 13, 2013, white smoke billowed from the Vatican chimney, and the new Pope was revealed to the world as Francis. Suddenly, the entire Church was newly focused on his namesake, the Assisi man of poverty and of peace - Patron Saint of St. Anthony's High School, Monte de Guirim, Bardez, Goa, India.

His Holiness Pope Francis demonstrates the joyful faith of Francis of Assisi wherever he goes. Today is the 5th Anniversary of Pope Francis as the head of the Catholic Church - a symbol of humility and kindness, an Apostle of peace and servitude, a voice of conscience and integrity.

Mother Mary.jpg

A Prayer from Pope Francis

Blessed Virgin Mary of Fatima, with renewed gratitude for your motherly presence, we join in the voice of all generations that call you blessed.

We celebrate in you the great works of God, who never tires of lowering himself in mercy over humanity, afflicted by evil and wounded by sin, to heal and to save it.

Accept with the benevolence of a Mother this act of entrustment that we make in faith today, before this your image, beloved to us.

We are certain that each one of us is precious in your eyes and that nothing in our hearts has estranged you.

May that we allow your sweet gaze to reach us and the perpetual warmth of your smile.

The Prayer of St. Francis

A dedication to Pope Francis.

The touching hymn,’ Make me a channel of your peace’ and otherwise known as ‘Prayer for St. Francis’ was written by Sebastian Temple (1928-1997) who grew up in South Africa and later moved to London, where he worked on news broadcast relating to South Africa. After converting to Catholicism and adopting the Franciscan lifestyle, Sebastian became a Secular Franciscan and spent much of his time composing music for worship.

He is best remembered for “The Prayer of St. Francis”.

This is one of my favourite hymns.
