Early Life: Born in Rome around 540 AD, he initially served as the Prefect of Rome before leaving public office to become a Benedictine monk.Papal Leadership: As pope during a time of plague, famine, and war, he used the papal treasury to feed the poor, care for refugees, and negotiate peace.
